The Worcester County Chapter of CSI is proud to sponsor two annual scholarships given in memory of charter members Michael G. Lapomardo and Edward M. Healy, FSCI, CDT, Emeritus. The scholarships are awarded in the amount of $750.00 for each year of undergraduate or graduate school enrollment (up to five years – $3,750). The Michael G. Lapomardo award may be given to a student in any field of study. The Edward M. Healy award is given specifically to a student who is pursuing a major in the study of Architecture, Engineering or the Construction Industry. (See the application for more details on eligibility and award preference.)
The primary fundraiser for our scholarships is our CISO Golf Tournament which has been held annually for the past 21 years. Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic situation, we cannot confidently provide a safe and fun setting to hold our regular golf and dinner event bringing over 100 participants together. The Chapter has made the difficult decision to cancel for this year. We will still be giving out the scholarships to deserving students and some of our annual sponsors have already committed to making donations. We’re working on finding a way for folks to participate virtually this year so we can keep the momentum going. Watch for details in next month’s newsletter. We’ll be back with a full event again next year.
The scholarship application form can be found at the end of this newsletter. We normally reach out through faculty and guidance departments, but students are not on campus and many office staff are not able to have their normal contact with students. If you know a deserving student who may be eligible, please forward so they don’t miss out on the opportunity.
