On Tuesday November 17, State Building Inspector Harold Leaming educated CSI Worcester about the unique requirements in Massachusetts pertaining to controlled construction. Starting off with an appropriately social-distanced networking hour, his program touched on facets of Chapter 1 of the Building Code which outlines when a licensed design professional is required and when one is not, and covered the duties and obligations of designers responsible for construction control.
The evening offered the uncommon opportunity to ask the top tier of building officials questions pertaining to any job, hypothetical or real and attendees certainly took advantage. The evening wrapped up with a plated meal rather than an open buffet in a room large enough to allow as few as 2 people to a table.
We’ve canceled our fantastically successful Christmas Party because, quite frankly, it’s way too popular and well attended to host responsibly. But we’ll be back in January with a great calendar of educational programs. If you’re on the fence about attending programs in person, know that the room we hold them in has a 125 person capacity, but we cap attendance at the State mandated 25 and usually see under that limit actually attend, so there is more than enough room to distance yourself as far away as you’d like to be comfortable. Hope to see you in January!
