Thank you to all of our panel and moderator from last month’s program on BIM.
BIM is the wave of the future for drafting and design. However, there is a reluctance for some firms to upgrade from 2D drafting. A tough learning curve and associated overhead are just some of the issues that drive this reluctance.
These, and other items, were presented by a panel comprised of individuals from different backgrounds including a con-tractor (Jack Moran of Consigli Construction), an architect (Leo Parker, AIA) and a third party BIM Provider (Tom Cassell). The discussion was moderated by Phil Marshall from an Autodesk vendor.
The discussion was not meant to “sell” BIM, but rather to discuss the various obstacles that arise and how to navigate them. It was very informative and well attended. A guest at my table commented how this was very useful, as he recently bid on a job that required BIM qualifications, and he was not very familiar with the product or available options to qualify for such a bid. He and others were very happy with the new found resources made available through the program.
