Marty Helly, CSI, CDT
I am thankful for this CSI community, both locally here in Massachusetts and around the country. As they have for years, the people in this organization help me get work, get it done and get it right. In this ongoing dystopian environment, sharing our experiences, whether on the phone, on zoom or at in person events, working to solve a problem on a project or just reaching out to check in with a friendly voice, this network has helped give worklife a tiny sense of normalcy.
From our October get together: Thank You to Rob Gutmann and GRLA for setting up their testing rig and demonstrating how water and air infiltrate when a window installation isn’t properly shimmed – and thus fails the testing requirements. Thanks also to the students at Keefe who assembled our mock-up wall for testing and learned how to do it differently in the future. Thanks to all the folks who showed up to watch the demonstration, learn about envelope testing, and enjoy the pizza and networking.
From the past year: Thank You to all of the members of our Board who have kept things moving and events happening. Thanks to Kendra and Harry and Roger for stepping up so we have new blood, new ideas and new energy to keep us old timers on our toes. Special thanks to Neil for all of his years of service and support for this organization. Thank You to Terri and Mike for keeping our newsletter and website functioning and up to date.
Are there things you’re thankful for in your construction career this past year? Please join our CSI Worcester County linked in group and comment. https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12583384/
This month, we’ll have an update on how to comply with the requirements of the Commercial Building Code in Massachusetts direct from our local building inspector. Code compliance is an issue on every project and getting the advice directly from the Authority Having Jurisdiction is always helpful. This meeting is free for members so take advantage of that – and since you’re saving in that way, take the opportunity use those funds to bring a friend.
If by chance we don’t cross paths before the end of the month – please know your continued support of Worcester CSI and our local construction community is greatly appreciated, even if it’s just taking the time to read this newsletter. I hope you and yours have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
